News From Size-26 Model Tess Holliday: She’s Launching a Clothing Line!

It feels as if we’re experiencing a sea change when it comes to clothing being designed for the traditional plus-size category, mostly in that it’s being created by women with curves who decided to do something about shopping and style frustrations they’d experienced. Add model (and People covergirl) Tess Holliday to the list of movers and shakers, with new reports that she’s creating her own line.

“I’m in the process of coming out with my own collection. I’m designing it now and it will launch next year. It’s been really exciting, but stressful,” she told Huffington Post U.K.. “Somebody has to speak for others. We often get pushed to the corner and people don’t really pay attention to us or take us seriously. It’s really frustrating.”

Holliday earlier this month

Holliday’s frustrations definitely shouldn’t sound like news. Melissa McCarthy voiced similar experiences when discussing her Seven7 line (which wears like a dream—come see a Glamour editor rock pieces at work for a full week). Model Ashley Graham created super-steamy lingerie that starts at 36DD, and a savvy subscription service wants to make shopping easier by catering specifically to sizes 10 through 32.
