Nothing To Wear? Just Copy Madonna in 1979
It’s no secret that Madonna is, was, and always will be an insanely cool style icon. When she burst onto the music scene in the early 80s, her signature look was a colorful mishmash of lace, glitter, and tulle that was immediately copied by everyone she cast under her pop-star spell. So imagine my surprise when I spotted these vintage photos of Madge wearing a—dare I say—minimal all-black ensemble.
She had recently moved to New York City at the time of these snaps (1979 to be exact) and was studying dance. I’m loving her semi-pixie haircut! Those cropped black jeans and heeled boots! The ripped up, off-the-shoulder top! I think we should all copy this dancer-chic look immediately. It’s so perfect for fall. And it’s Madonna-approved. Check out some more pics from the shoot.
