If there was ever a doubt in your mind that we’re reliving the ’90s—what with the 20th anniversary of Clueless, Dope killing it at the box offices, and celebrities by the last name of Baldwin, Smith, and Beckham ruling pop culture—leave it to Rihanna’s latest wardrobe choices to really drive the point home.
The 27-year-old singer has been working on her new album in New York City, rocking a ton of your old-school favorites including items that look like they were ripped straight from Naomi Campbell’s and Seinfeld‘s Elaine Benes’ closets.
Case-in-point: The singer hit the studio for a late-night recording session wearing wide-leg trousers that were held up by suspenders. Underneath, she layered with a baby T-shirt, the top that pretty much defined the ’90s.
She left The Mercer Kitchen in Soho wearing a Reformation number that looks like it could have come from Laura Ashley—only with a sexier vibe.
Earlier this month, Rihanna was spotted shopping for earrings at a tattoo parlor, rocking a Marni floral-print dress we’re positive Elaine Benes would have loved. She accessorized with classic of-that-era pieces including a Versace choker necklace, Chanel loafers, and a green leather backpack.
For a night of partying at 1OAK in Southampton, Rihanna went with a black slip dress fit for any supermodel. A nameplate necklace that read Fenty and sleek silver heels finished the look.
