See Gigi Hadid’s First Turn as a Victoria’s Secret Pink Model

We gave a big “um, finally!” response when news broke this winter that Gigi Hadid had signed with Victoria’s Secret Pink. Her first pics are out and she’s posing alongside Rachel Hilbert, the 20-year-old New York native who was recently announced as the official face of the brand.

The VS news must have been a major moment for Gigi, who reacted to not being cast in last year’s runway show with a ton of grace. Her reality-star mom, Yolanda Foster, talked to Glamour exclusively about the model’s disappointment.

“Gigi worked so hard to get the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and she didn’t get it. But you know what? That’s just life. She was sad. She was boxing at Gotham gym every day and in great shape, and it seemed like a perfect fit. But you know what? It ended up not to be. And rather than go, ‘Oh, I’m so sorry,’ I said, ‘Hey, Gigi, that’s life, baby. We’re not always going to get what we want, and this is not a rejection of you, Gigi, as a human being. This is just redirection for you into something that’s going to be much bigger.’ She looked at me like, ‘What do you mean?’ And I go, ‘If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen at another time. It wasn’t meant to happen today.'”
