Selena Gomez’s Met Gala Bag Secretly Matched Her “Love Yourself First” Tattoo

Selena Gomez killed it at the 2017 Met Gala last night for a couple of reasons: her gorgeous Coach dress and her finally making a (very) public debut with The Weeknd that apparently included whispering “I love you” into his ear on the red carpet. But now that the glitter has settled and the carpet’s been rolled up, fans have uncovered yet another thing to love about Gomez’s Met Gala appearance. Namely, the Coach bag the singer carried discreetly said “Love yourself first” in script on the bottom—the same meaning as one her tattoos when translated from Arabic.

Coach, for which Gomez serves as an ambassador, shared a close-up shot of the purse and shoes she wore to the event. “@selenagomez’s #MetGala look details. Studded and inked with ‘love yourself first’—a nod to her tattoo,” the brand captioned the photo.

As pointed out by Twitter fan account Selena Gomez News, Gomez’s Arabic “Love yourself first” tattoo can be found on the right side of her back.

This isn’t Gomez’s only tattoo: She’s been inked at least eight times. During her Revival tour last year, she sold packs of temporary tattoos that looked exactly like her own. Plus, last month Gomez announced that she and two 13 Reasons Why cast members had gotten matching tattoos that symbolize suicide prevention and mental health awareness, which are broad themes on the show.
