We’ve barely recovered from Game of Thrones’ “Battle of the Bastards”, and there’s already a new war on our hands. And this time, it’s among the world’s most famous supermodels, past and present.
Super Tyra Banks opened up about the recent public feuding (and subsequent apologies) between Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Stephanie Seymour, after she called the former two “bitches of the moment.” After speaking out on the matter on her blog, in a post titled “Model War: I Live In the Middle of a Certain War That Is Raging Right Now. A Model War.” In the post, she opens up about how the supermodels of the ’90s (including Seymour) had a very different experience than the major models from today, by way of social media, and heck, even GPS to find casting locations. (The ’90s crew used old-fashioned paper maps to find their way around! You try navigating the Paris Arrondissements on a fold-out map—not easy.)
Late Thursday, Banks opened up to Vanity Fair saying, “I would hope that we could join together and be more of a family and not have such dissension…I come from a divorced home, so maybe I just like things to be nice and healthy. I also feel the younger generation can learn from the older generation, and the older generation can learn from the younger generation. There’s power in connectivity as well.”
She defended Seymour, but also Kendall and Gigi. “I have to say, I don’t think Stephanie Seymour at all was being nasty; I really think she was joking…She’s one of the original Victoria’s Secret Angels. There’s five of us, and I spent a lot of time with her. She is just very precious, very sweet. I’ve never heard anything negative about her, or never saw her be negative or jealous or anything. It was taken out of context [by outlets that didn’t note Seymour’s joking tone], but I think it still opens up a conversation that is happening every day.”
No word from the Jenner or Hadid camps on this one yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
Thought you knew everything there was to know about Kendall Jenner? Think again.
