Health OMG: Suddenly People Are Talking About (Wait for This) Anal Tattoos

Forgive me, I’m feeling a little nauseated thinking about a new trend in tattoo artistry that inks the … anus.

You will not believe this: A woman in Florida reportedly got a second anal tattoo recently (and let a camera crew film her in the act!). My first reaction? Gross. Second reaction? How is this even possible?

The Frisky interviewed a tattoo artist in New York about anal tattoos, and he said they are rare, but not unheard of. But, most legitimate tattoo artists will not go there.

Why is this a bad idea? Let me count the ways (and I won’t even mention the ick-factor here): 1.) This is soft tissue we’re talking about, and soft tissue is more likely to bleed, get infected, etc. 2.) Ouch. The anus has a lot of nerve endings, so not only will it bleed more, it would really, really hurt. 3.) How on earth is the scab going to heal when you have to use the bathroom each day?
