These ‘La La Land’ Engagement Photos Are As Romantic As the Movie
Themed engagement shoots can be hit-or-miss, but these La La Land–inspired engagement photos fall squarely in the former category—just like the award-winning movie.
La La Land is, at heart, a Los Angeles love story, so when it came time to capture Ellen Wleklinski and Corey Collins’ own L.A. love story on camera, their photographer felt the theme was a natural fit. Using the same filming locations as the Oscar-nominated movie and similar costume choices, Marlies Hartmann of M. Hart Photography captured dreamy, Old Hollywood–esque shots of the couple—some of which are dead ringers for stills from the film.
Wleklinski and Collins’ love story also partly mimics that of Mia and Sebastian’s (played by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling), making the photo shoot even more fitting. The couple went on one of their first dates to the Griffith Observatory, as did Mia and Sebastian. And Hartmann was also struck by how much the couple physically resemble Stone and Gosling. “Ellen thought that Corey looked like her own personal Ryan Gosling,” Hartmann shares with Glamour.
Some of the photographs were taken at Griffith Observatory (where La La Land was filmed), and the iconic “blue hour” shots were taken at the Hollywood Bowl Overlook, a nearby and more accessible location to Cathy’s Corner, where the film was shot. But all of the photographs evoke the same swoonworthy feels as the movie. Take a look…
And the Academy Award for Best Picture(s) goes to…these engagement photos.
