3 Fun Things to Do if Wedding-Night Sex Isn’t on Your Agenda

A few of my friends who are getting married soon said they actually don’t want to have sex on their wedding night. As one of these gals eloquently put it: “I’m pretty sure it’d be a sloppy mess.” So here are some (almost as) fun alternatives to newlywed nookie:

Go to an after party.

I have to admit; I was a little jealous when some of Paul’s groomsmen were recruiting wedding guests to go to an after party at the hotel they were staying at. I was way too tired for any post-wedding merriment, but I’m sure it would have been a blast. It’s probably best to hold the shindig at a hotel bar or in one of your other guests’ rooms; hosting it in your hotel room means guests could still be hanging around when you’d like nothing more than to go to sleep next to your new husband.

Look at wedding pictures.

This will require friends to take photos on your digital cameras or phones–you shouldn’t have to take pictures at your own wedding! Paul and I totally looked through the images on my digi camera that night. It’s fun to relive the day right away.

Go straight to bed…and wake up for the sunrise.

I was so exhausted after our wedding that the thought of setting any kind of alarm didn’t sit right with me. But if you’ll be getting to a bed earlier than we did (I think it was about 2:30 in the morning when we were finally checked in), waking up early enough to catch the sun rise may not be a stretch for you. And starting off your first full day as a married couple that way has got to be intensely romantic.
