3 Pregnancy Wedding Style Lessons, Courtesy of Vera Farmiga
The Metropolitan Opera kicked off its new season in New York last night. Loads of stars were in attendance, including a very pregnant Vera Farmiga. Her glamorous look should inspire expectant brides everywhere.
Naturally, the gown is Marchesa.
Here’s what I think Vera is doing right.
1) She’s showing off some cleavage—but not in a tacky way
I’m not always the biggest fan of cleavage, but a pregnant bride might want to explore this option since—let’s be honest—your chest is probably one area of your body that’s looking better than ever. The subtle embellishment around the neckline of the gown here accentuates Vera’s chest but stays in appropriate territory.
2) She’s embracing two great trends: sheer fabrics and sleeves on wedding dresses
Maybe you’re not as comfortable showing off your arms as you were pre-pregnancy or maybe sleeves have always appealed to you. Either way, if that strapless wedding gown is just not calling your name, see-through sleeves are a perfect compromise. You’ve get the cover up factor, plus a still-sexy look.
3) She’s avoiding the tent-ish look by rocking a fitted column
The shape of this dress is so flattering. That’s because it’s got a long, straight skirt that hugs her bump. It’s body-con and way chic.
So, how do you ladies feel about Vera’s look? Would you opt for something similar if you were a pregnant bride? And overall, what is your take on tying the knot when pregnant?
