Engagement Ring Face-Off: Jessica Simpson vs. Vanessa Minnillo! Who Scored the Best Bling From Nick Lachey?

Had I known what a lucrative career being a member of a boy band was, I probably would have switched up my major in college. (And had that pesky gender reassignment surgery.) Backstreet Boy Nick Carter just proposed to his girlfriend with a diamond the size of my face, and former 98 Degrees member Nick Lachey has sprung for two super-sparkly engagement rings.

In 2002, Nick asked Jessica Simpson to be his missus with a pear-shaped diamond with what appear to be pear-shaped side stones. (Click here and here for better pics.) Eight years later, he proposed to Vanessa Minnillo with a 4-carat Asscher-cut diamond flanked by trapezoid baguettes. (Better pic here.) Both rings pack a load of sparkle, but whose is the prettiest?

Which of these engagement rings is your favorite?

I’m not generally a fan of pear-shaped diamonds, but I think I prefer Jessica’s here! Vanessa’s is too geometric for my taste.

(And, yes, I know the ring should suit the girl, and it doesn’t really matter what WE think, etc., etc. I’m just asking which ring you’d want on your left hand!)
