Anne Hathaway’s Oscar Hair: Here’s How To Copy Her Updo For Your Next Fancy Occasion

We may not all be able to have Anne Hathaway’s incredible singing voice–didya hear her little solo during the Oscars?–but some of us can probably knock off her latest red-carpet updo at home.

Actually, it’s more of a low-do, in the words of one of our regular readers (I forget which of you coined this phrase! Please remind me, you deserve full cred.) It was created by celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel for Frederic Fekkai, who says he took his inspiration from hairstyles at the Spring/Summer 2011 Nina Ricci show in Paris. He was kind enough to share his low-do how-to. Here goes:

  1. Part your hair down the center and apply a volumizer, like Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip, to your hair from roots to ends.

  2. Blow-dry the hair using a round brush.

  3. Pull your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck, making sure to cover your ears. “The key is keeping it loose for a touch of bohemian flair. It’s almost like a draping around the face, with wispy pieces of hair coming out softly,” Abergel explains.

  4. Twist the pony into a loose knot. The twist should be so loose that is doesn’t appear to be twisted at all and allows for the shape of a chignon to take place—one that’s a little wide, almost triangular. Tuck your hair elastic underneath hair and pin to hide it.

  5. Mist with hairspray to finish; he used Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray.

What do you guys think? Would you attempt this or does it sound kind of tricky to pull off? Got any Oscar-hairstyle-worthy occasions on the horizon?
