Ariel Winter Got a Tattoo of Cheese on Her Finger, Is Our New Hero

The celebrity tattoo is thriving: Just in recent memory, Miley Cyrus got some permanent body work done of her dog, Demi Lovato went for a lion, and yesterday Kylie Jenner debuted a butterfly. Animal trends are going strong, but hero, icon, and body-positivity champion Ariel Winter just went in a different direction. On Snapchat last night the actress posted a pic of her newest tattoos, our favorite being a wedge of cheese drawn on the inside of her finger. She now owns our hearts.

Winter recorded behind-the-scenes videos of her new additions and also posted videos of boyfriend Levi Meaden and a friend going under the tattoo gun. The finished results? A long, winding snake on her inner wrist, heart halves with “bae,” and a matching wedge of cheese and peanut butter jar with “my love.” It checks out: heart halves, cheese and peanut butter, both are symbols of eternal, perfect love.

Whether her friend or Levi ended up with the heart or PB halves is unclear, but it also doesn’t really matter. We’d say the two are equivalent. That said, Winter’s Insta following is probably in on the secret. A few weeks ago the actress posted a photo of her and her boyfriend with the caption “When your bf gets you matching jackets with your nicknames on them because you were having a sad day.”

She’s the peanut butter, he’s the cheese, and we’re here for it. The finely detailed, delicate snake is as gorgeous as we’ve come to expect from Winter’s tattoo choices:

The li’l reptile joins her collection of a Greek-language quote, “Love risks everything and asks for nothing,” on her hip and the initials of her nieces and nephew on her rib cage. For someone who’s spoken out about the backlash she received for her breast reduction surgery, and who last week took on the paparazzi tailing her everyday activities, it’s inspiring that Winter has the backbone to stay strong and keep sharing any details of her life. But for someone who just got a block of cheese permanently inked on her finger, that’s just an aspect of the inspo she’s serving.
