Blair Waldorf’s Ruby Red Lips (And Other “Gossip Girl” Beauty Gossip)
It’s been a little while since I’ve gotten super-excited over a red lip. They’ve been such a trend for so long now, they’ve started to feel juuuust a little …. ehh. Then I saw Blair Waldorf’s glistening ruby lipstick in last night’s episode of Gossip Girl and was instantly and totally reinfatuated. Doesn’t that imaginary heiress just have the darndest way of making everything look enviable?
We’ve freaked over the Gossip Girl character’s headbands and obsessed over her around-the-crown braid. Now I think we have to add her perfectly executed red lips to the list of Blair beauty-spiration.
Not the best close-up of the lipstick, but those of you who saw the episode know: It was super-shiny, and just the perfect shade (not too orangey, not too bluish). I don’t know what formula was used, but what I’ve learned is that with red lipstick, it’s rarely as easy as copying a shade you see on someone else. You really have to go try reds on yourself, since your own lip, skin and hair tones can drastically change the color. Example: the classic Nars Jungle Red goes fully orange on me. Do you guys know of a red that that really does look consistently good on lots of people?
Two more notes from the show … One: Serena had straight hair. I thought it was pretty/a fun change, but it made me realize what a difference those loose waves make–I think she looks 10x more distinctive with her usual fuller ‘do. What did you think?
Two: In this sneak-peek photo from next Monday’s episode, Blair has an updo that I feel might just be a wedding-hair contender for my inspiration files.
I can’t wait to see the back! Yes, I’d be somewhat ashamed to admit I stole my wedding look from Blair Waldorf, but that would also be somewhat awesome/hilarious/of-the-moment, no?
Let’s discuss.
