If Adele Shares Your Bad Beauty Habit, Does That Make It Actually Cool?
We think everyone who’s had “Hello” playing on a loop in her head/soul for weeks will agree that there is not anyone more epic in the universe right now than Adele. (So epic, in fact, that we can only use “epic” to describe her, despite having sworn to stop typing this over-used word.)
In his profile of Adele and her long-awaited third album, 25, for The Guardian, writer Tom Lamont reveals that the singer is not, in fact, the invincible superbeing we tend to imagine lives behind that voice and fiercely perfected cat eye. No, she’s as vulnerable and anxious as the rest of us, and this manifests in one of the same bad beauty habits so many of us struggle with: nail biting. Here’s the chunk of the story where this endearing chink in Adele’s armor is revealed:
*The 27 year old is dressed today in dark jumper and tapered trousers, her red hair pulled back to reveal rows of hooped gold in each ear. Heeled boots, studded with glitter, have begun to molt in the autumn damp; wherever Adele settles around the room she leaves behind traces of sparkle. Jet-black fakies have been glued to her fingernails, but they’re in ruins—bitten away. “I’m 60 percent excited,” says Adele, directing me to a couch beside a set of speakers, “40 percent shitting it.”*Biting through fake nails—now that is some determined anxiety. Raise a nails-nibbled hand if this tidbit only intensifies your undying love for Adele. Then check out our tips on how to grow your nails back in a flash after you go through a particularly nail-biting experience.
