Emma Stone Has the Prettiest Buttery Platinum Blond Hair Now

Although she’s changed her hair color a few times over the years, most of us associate Emma Stone with her signature look: that vibrant red hair of hers. What many don’t know, however, is that she’s actually a natural blond. And now it seems the actress has gone back to her roots once again.

We’ve had a sneaking idea that Stone’s been on her way back to blond. Over the past little while, we’ve noticed her slowly going lighter and lighter. Just last month, she debuted a beautiful strawberry blond at the Audi Polo Challenge that could easily move her along toward a blonder color.

It was almost a faded version of her bright red, as if it were beautifully bleached by the sun. The in-between look even had a few super-subtle golden highlights. Almost the same color as her new shade, they peeked through just enough to give us a hint at what was to come. In case you missed the look, here it is:

On Friday night our suspicions were confirmed when Stone showed off a buttery platinum blond at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala honoring Diane Keaton. Her new color is a departure from the previous cooler-toned blonds she’s had before. It’s also a shade that’s super-popular in Hollywood right now: Katy Perry went brighter and lighter recently, along with Bella Thorne and Sarah Hyland.

To make her new look even better, Stone and her mom are kind of twinning now, and it’s adorable:

We love that Stone decided not to jump right into blond from her signature red. After all, when it comes dramatic color shifts, slow and steady tends to win the race. Stone’s colorist, Tracey Cunningham, would agree: She gave us all the tips on how to go from dark to light à la Khloe Kardashian.
