Kevin Smith Got His Daughter a “Sorry Men Suck” Cake After She Was Almost Kidnapped by Fake Uber Drivers

One of our favorite new movies at Sundance Film Festival this year was Yoga Hosers, Kevin Smith’s latest. In it, his teen daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, and her friend Lily-Rose Depp (yes, Johnny Depp’s daughter!) star as a pair of teen girls who have to fight off an attack from talking Nazi sausages. (Yes, really.) At the screening, Kevin perfectly summed up the incredibly feminist film: “A dad writes a movie about a bunch of phallic things running at his daughter, and she’s just killing them all. Pretty straightforward!”

Although we doubt Nazis bratwursts will ever attack Harley in real life, the 16-year-old revealed on her Instagram this week a recent—and even more terrifying—event that almost happened to her: She was nearly kidnapped by two men posing as Uber drivers.

Here’s her story:

“PEOPLE OF LOS ANGELES: I was just standing outside a Starbucks in Brentwood, where I was waiting for my Uber when a large, beige car drove up to me and tried to get me to think they were my Uber. There were two white men (age 20 to 30) in the driver (blond hair) and passenger (brown hair) seat with an Uber sign on their front window, but they were most definitely not Uber drivers. When I asked who they were there to pick up, making sure it was the right car, they wouldn’t answer me and said to get in the car. They didn’t have the Uber app on their phone and were clearly just two disgusting dudes trying to kidnap a girl standing on her own. Protect yourself and never ever get in a car without checking that it’s the correct car first!!! I was in too much haze of fear that I wasn’t thinking straight enough to think to take a picture of the drivers or the license plate, but if you see a car like this PLEASE report it to the police and stop them from trying to prey on other young girls!!! We have already reported it to the police, but more information would be helpful in finding them. Be careful and look out for yourself/others!!!!”

Yikes, that is so scary. We’re glad that Harley is safe—and so, obviously, was her dad. Later in the day, Harley posted a photo of a gift he got her: a cake that says “Sorry Men Suck.” “Just when I was about to lose faith in humanity after almost being kidnapped today, my dad got me this cake and made me remember that some people, like himself, make the world a lot better,” she wrote in the caption. Aww.

So, to recap, Kevin Smith is the best dad. Not only did he write a badass feminist movie for his daughter and send her an awesome cake, but he also recently gifted Harley with the baseball bat used by Harley Quinn, his daughter’s namesake, in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. So cool.
