Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn Are Reportedly Living Together, to the Surprise of No One

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are reportedly basically living together, according to a new report from The Sun‘s Dan Wootton, who broke the news about their relationship in the first place. Specifically, Swift’s apparently been staying at Alwyn’s apartment in Crouch End because she doesn’t have a place of her own in London, but they haven’t moved in together officially. They’re just, ya know, shacking up. And in other news, water is wet, the sun is hot, and Donald Trump’s wig is probably flying in the wind as we speak.

This is all to say news about Swift and Alwyn’s reported cohabitation should come as a surprise to no one. Well, actually, I take that back: Maybe it’s a surprise to you if you secluded yourself from society in January 2016 and spent two straight years indoors, listening to Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream album on repeat and watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians. All that low-key anti-Swift propaganda would’ve made it impossible for you to hear about her (rumored) personal triumphs. If you weren’t hunkered down in that exact situation, though, then there’s no excuse. This shouldn’t be news.

What, did no one listen to Swift’s Reputation album? That record is filled to the gills with super-lovey Alwyn references that all but confirmed a makeshift cohabitation was on the horizon. Need I remind you of these specific lyrics?

“Delicate”

Lyrics: “Is it too soon to do this yet?”

Translation: Is it too soon for me to swap your scratchy, gross bed quilt for my down comforter?

“Dress”

Lyrics: “Only bought this dress so you could take it off.”

Translation: And then put it in your washing machine for a quick rinse. (Actually, can you put it in the washing machine, Joe?)

“King of My Heart”

Lyrics: “We rule the kingdom inside my room.”

Translation: And when we’re in London, we’re ruling the quasi-kingdom inside your room, because only my room is actually regal.

“Ready for It”

Lyrics: “Are you ready for it?”

Translation: “It” being your reduced rent, because we’re both splitting the living expenses. Don’t forget to send in $50 for the cable bill.

Alwyn’s recent acting credits hinted that Swift would eventually be living with him too. I mean, come on, Billy Lynn’s Halftime Walk? That movie clearly suggests Alwyn was tired of walking so much to meet Swift in London, so he gave her a key to his flat. Read between the lines, people. Subtext! His blue eyes practically scream, “Please Taylor Swift, Queen of Pop, share my bathroom with me!” And his hair definitely screams, “I want access to your special shampoo and conditioner at all times.” (Just kidding.)
