The 7 Most Memorable Modern Days of Our Lives Wedding Dresses
Sure there have been numerous bouts of amnesia and a handful of meddlesome evil twins, but the plot point the Days of Our Lives writers seem to return to most is a good old-fashioned wedding: There have been more than 100 “big days” in the soap’s 50 years—including multiple weddings for some especially beloved (or especially hated) couples—and that’s not including the weddings that were planned but didn’t happen.
Of the most recent weddings (or attempted weddings) seven wedding dresses have stood out as our favorites. Let’s take a walk down memory lane—and hope we don’t trip and hit our heads and get amnesia.
Bo Brady & Hope Williams
Daytime TV royalty deserve to be married like actual royalty, of course. Bo and Hope’s royal wedding—one of numerous times the couple has said “I do”—was shot on-site in England; Hope’s gown cost a reported $35,000. She could have locked up best daytime-TV wedding headpiece, if it weren’t for …
John Black & Marlena Evans
Hold on to your spiked wedding headband, major plot twists ahead: Marlena takes in John Black as a patient, only to eventually find out that John is her first love, Roman Brady, who she renews her marriage vows with in this pointy shouldered number. Except “Roman” is actually the brainwashed victim of Stefano—and the real Roman is still alive.
John Black & Isabella Toscano
How do you take all eyes off your baby bump? Give your arms a pair of bumps that are just as impressive, of course. After Marlena returns to the actual Roman, John is free to marry Isabella Toscano, who gives birth to their son Brady before dying shortly after their wedding.
“Patch” Johnson & Kayla Brady
Bo isn’t the only Brady with a turbulent love story. Bo’s sister, Kayla Brady, found love with the bad boy who rescued her from a street gang. When they eventually made it down the aisle, the bride’s massive sleeves couldn’t detract from the groom’s eye patch—which he was forced to wear after his eye was gouged out by his former best friend: Bo Brady.
Tony DiMera & Anna Brady
It took multiple attempts for these two to finally swap vows—their first trip down the aisle was foiled by a fake minister, obviously. But it was all worth it to get to this drop-waist gown and pile of pearls. Lose the topper and she kind of looks like a modern-day Houghton bride.
Sami Brady & Austin Reed
If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Why don’t more wedding dresses have lapels?” Sami Brady has your answer. She picked this high-shine number for an attempted wedding to her childhood crush, Austin Reed, who would go on to marry her sister, while she’d have a decades long love-hate relationship with his half-brother, Lucas.
Shawn-Douglas Brady & Belle Black
A baby conceived during a bout of hypothermia-riddled love-making tied the next generation’s supercouple together until they eventually married in 2007. (Shawn-Douglas Brady is the son of Bo Brady and Hope Williams, and Isabella Black is John Black and Marlena Evans’ baby girl.) Belle probably went with a more laid-back gown since it wasn’t her first trip down the aisle. (Although that didn’t stop her mom, Marlena, from going all out for round two—see above.)
