Admit It. You’d Totally Wear These ’90s Delia’s Catalog Items Today

Sad news, guys: The clothing company that made our teen fashion dreams come true isn’t doing so well anymore. Already this year, Delia’s (or dELiA*s, rather!) has suffered a loss of more than $13 million—and that’s on top of losing $12 million last year. Things are so bad for the company that it’s looking for a buyer. Bummer.

But remember when Delia’s business was booming? That was pre-Internet, when teenaged ’90s girls would anxiously wait for the company’s seasonal catalog to hit their mailboxes. We’d pore over each page with our friends, obsessively studying the quirky models and the confessional-style copywriting. It featured everything we thought was cool—skater pants! ringer tees! ball-chain chokers! flatforms!—and the prices were totally affordable.

In reviewing old images from the catalog now, I see a lot of quintessentially ’90s things most of us would never wear today. But I also see a few ’90s classics that actually don’t look so dated. Maybe if Delia’s resurrected some of these, they’d be back in the black instead of the red?

2. Postman Pants

I had these. And I have a similar pair now.

3. Black Lace Dress

Never goes out of style.

4. Cropped Pants and Flatform Sandals

Both of these items were on the spring 2015 runways.

5. Floral Button-Up

If I had had this shirt this past summer, I would have worn it every day.

6. Tailored Camo Shorts

Way more flattering on way more body types than last summer’s trendy diaper jean cutoffs.

7. High-Cut Printed Swimsuit

Looks like something We Are Handsome or MSGM would make.
