Some Hollywood A-listers have been ditching their bras…will you?

Two actresses on two red carpets ditching the bra while wearing a black tank top can’t be a coincidence, right? Jennifer Lawrence did the look at CinemaCon on Tuesday, then Ashley Tisdale repeated it at last night’s premiere of Mother’s Day. Now we’re left waiting for a third star to prove the maxim that a trio makes a trend, because, seriously, is this a sleeper spring fashion fad we didn’t see coming?

Both ladies went braless in black tanks, though some added modesty likely came courtesy of silicone nipple covers (Ashley shared a shot of her pasties on Instagram, and we’d bet J.Law employed a similar trick). Since the top is a saucy enough statement, each kept her bottoms relaxed, with a loose midi for Jennifer and wide-leg trousers for Ashley.

We spy a Kardashian influence at play too. Each of the sisters has had a moment with a sheer black top that flashes some cleavage, though the bra exposure is part of the whole look (Khloé even helpfully recommended the perfect style to wear). With or without on-display lingerie, it’s a sexy outfit, and the choice to go support-free might be as much a practical choice as personal style. Women with larger busts often find they can’t toss the bra: Christina Hendricks grabbed headlines for saying she can never pick a pretty backless dress because support is required for her ladies.
