Donald Trump Once Wanted Ivanka to Get Breast Implants, New Book Claims

This week’s buzziest book is, hands down Born Trump: Inside America’s Family, which shines a klieg light on POTUS’s three marriages and five kids—well, four actually; Barron’s only mentioned in passing. Otherwise, Vanity Fair senior reporter Emily Jane Fox pulls no punches in this dishy tell-all. Here are 14 things we learned.

1. Ivana Trump claims that all three of her pregnancies were the result of IUD mishaps. As Fox says, “If true, [this] has to make her either a statistical anomaly or the victim of serial gynecological malpractice.”

2. One of Donald and Ivana Trump’s nannies allegedly left baby Don in a hot bath, alone, while she took the dog for a walk. Another time, he broke his leg on her watch, having tumbled off the counter while the same nanny was chopping vegetables. Later, the Trump parents hired two Irish women—Bridget Carroll and Dorothy Curry, who still works as Ivana’s personal assistant to this day. When they were on duty, the nannies “shared a little room in the children’s wing of the Trump Tower triplex, which happened to take up an entire floor.”

3. When the Trump kids were busted for breaking a valuable chandelier with a tennis ball, Don, Jr. took the fall for Ivanka. According to the book, their mom believed in spanking.

4. The First Family’s motorcade was held up on Inauguration Day by a surprisingly relatable snafu: Ivanka and Jared couldn’t get an infant car seat to fit in their armored car.

5. Ivanka appears to have fashioned her family after the Kennedy’s—even giving each of her kids a name that easily traces back to Camelot. Arabella was the name Jackie Kennedy unoffically gave to her stillborn daughter; Joseph was the name of JFK’s father; and Theodore could be interpreted as an homage to Ted Kennedy.

6. When Ivanka was in eighth grade, she flashed a New York City hot dog vendor from a classroom. But that’s not why she wasn’t asked back to the New York City’s exclusive Chapin school: apparently they were fed up with how many classes she missed for modeling. According to Fox, “She traveled to Mar-a-Lago to put together her modeling portfolio and lied to administrators about why she was missing school.”

7. In high school at Choate, Ivanka participated in Model Congress, where she proposed legislation that would give free AZT medication to all people with HIV on welfare. In Chapter 6, “Ivanka, Voltron Number One,” Fox writes, “Classmates don’t remember Ivanka as politically active, but she opted to take a bunch of classes in political history and one in constitutional law…One year she went with her classmates on a trip to Washington, DC….Many remember her as unfailingly polite and uncommonly kind, particularly for someone from her background.”

8. But Ivanka also had a selfish streak, according to the book, at least when it came to snacks. Friends from those days remember how she used to over-salt her popcorn at the movies so she wouldn’t have to share. “‘You can’t even imagine what it tastes like after she’s done with it,'” one movie companion of hers remembers.

9. Of Ivanka’s modeling career, Fox writes: “Donald wanted it for her, bad, to the point where he suggested to friends that breast implants might help her along. One friend recalled getting a frantic call from Maryanne Trump, Donald’s sister, urging him to talk Donald out of letting her get plastic surgery that young. ‘It’ll ruin her,’ she said into the phone. When his friend confronted him about it, he denied that she was getting implants. At the end of the call, he asked, ‘Why not, though?’”

10. At the University of Pennsylvania, Donald Trump, Jr. was reportedly known as Diaper Don because he tended to wet the bed after a long night of drinking. Writes Fox, “Diaper Don would wake up in some stranger’s dorm room or off-campus apartment or bedroom in his frat house, covered in piss, walk back to his own room and get blitzed that evening or the next anew.”

11. When Eric was six years old, a student teacher asked him to put his play-mat away, according to the book. “She…kindly, gently pointed[ed] him in the right direction and urg[ed] him to follow his classmates. ‘Eric, please put your play mat away. with the other children,’ she remembers telling him. He barely paused, barely breathed, before he looked her in the eye, in front of all the other children, and bellowed at the top of his tiny little lungs: His response: ‘You’re a bitch!’”

12. According to Fox when Tiffany Trump went out with friends in college, “she became somewhat notorious for scrutinizing the bill, tallying up what she owed, down to the penny, and only agreeing to pay exactly that amount. She would explain that her father provided her with a budget of $500 per month.”

13. Donald Trump reportedly wanted daughter Ivanka Trump to get breast implants to further her modeling career as a teen. “Donald wanted it for her, bad, to the point where he suggested to friends that breast implants might help her along,” Fox writes. Trump’s sister, Maryanne, was apparently so dismayed by her brother’s opinion, that she enlisted one of her brother’s friends to talk some sense into him. “When his friend confronted him about it, he denied that [Ivanka] was getting implants,” Fox writes. “At the end of the call, he asked, ‘Why not, though?’ ”
