Bella Thorne Just Shut Down Everyone Making Fun of Selena Gomez’s Wardrobe Malfunction

Earlier this week, Selena Gomez wore a very chic, quasi-sheer black dress while hanging out with The Weeknd in New York City. She looked bomb in the outfit (as she does in everything), but the paparazzi on her tail caused a small wardrobe malfunction. The flashing lights from the cameras exposed Gomez’s nipple and backside, which sent the Internet into a tizzy. Trolls, who clearly think this is the eighteenth century, came out in droves criticizing Gomez for not wearing a proper bra or underwear. One person even called Gomez’s nipples “disgusting.”

It should go without saying that these comments are out of line. No one has the right to criticize (or even comment) on how someone chooses to dress. And there’s nothing unsavory or offensive about nipples, bare behinds, or any form of nudity, for that matter. The patriarchy has hard-wired people to shame women for outfits like this, and it really needs to stop. Gomez can wear (or not wear) anything she wants, damn it!

And Bella Thorne agrees. The Famous in Love actress spotted a few trolls on a fan account dragging Gomez, and she subsequently shut them down.

“That’s not her fault that paps are shooting her on a date,” Thorne wrote. “It’s also not her fault that there’s a flash. It’s really not fair to say that.” Preach, girl!

Thorne is no stranger to this kind of social media controversy. A few weeks ago tabloids zeroed in on her brief flirtation with Scott Disick in Cannes, but she dismissed any rumors they were dating in a series of tweets. “I’m not talking to [Scott] or anyone else,” she wrote in one post. (In another, she said they were “legit nothing.”)
