Smitten Exclusive: A Super Sexy Chair You’ve Got to See to Believe!

My dears, we’ve talked a lot about romantic home décor, but the piece of furniture we’re discussing today is like nothing we’ve ever covered on Smitten before. Risque stuff after the jump, so proceed with caution.

There aren’t any PG-13 pictures of the chair in action so you dolls will have to use your imagination about how couples position themselves for more ergonomic hooking up.

I first spotted The Tantra Chair (link is NOT safe for work) last week when a friend posted a link on Facebook. The very curvy chair was designed with intimacy in mind. That’s right, it’s a chair made for sex. Though my friend claimed he shared the link to be funny, I could tell he was quite intrigued. Lucky for him (and for us!) I spoke with its designer, Zen by Design’s Al Vitaro, earlier this week to get the low down on this curious piece of furniture.

Rosemary: How did this chair design come about? Were you designing other furniture pieces before this?

Al: Yes, I specialize in unique furniture designed for meditation. Meditation, spirituality and esoteric studies have always been very dear to me and I am so honored to be able to create amazing furniture designs that encourage the path of spiritual enlightenment. The Tantra Chair is the most notable design and it has had a tremendous and positive impact on loving couples in every industrialized nation around the world. The inspiration for the Tantra Chair was the recognition of the absence of spirituality in relation to sexual intimacy. I wanted to create a furniture design that not only made sex more comfortable and more pleasurable but encouraged loving couples to honor their relationships very deeply.

As you can see, The Tantra Chair closely resembles the female form and this was certainly by design. The elegant serenity and beauty of the female form has been expressed through most every art form throughout history and it made perfect sense to me to incorporate this into the design of The Tantra Chair. The gentle curvature is exceptionally versatile in both form and function.

Rosemary: What are some common misconceptions people have about the chair? And what reactions do people have when they first see it?

Al: I think the most common misconception is that The Tantra Chair is only designed for lovemaking. Although lovemaking enhancement is the primary design quality and the focus of our marketing, The Tantra Chair makes an amazing chaise lounge for everyday use. Many of our customers use the Tantra Chair for yoga, stretching and general relaxation.

If someone heard about the chair without seeing it, they usually react in one of two ways: Gentlemen are usually intrigued and ladies immediately question the possibilities of displaying such a novelty item in their home. After they see an image or the actual chair in person, gentlemen become more excited and ladies feel very comfortable about featuring it in their homes.

The customer satisfaction rating for The Tantra Chair has been an extraordinary 100 percent since it was introduced to the market in 2003. The reason for this satisfaction rating is because we use the finest components in the world to create the piece. We realize that the design has to stand the test of time and we build it like no other furniture design in the world. Quality control is everything to the success of the product and we are one of the few companies in the country that insist on keeping our manufacturing processes in the United States. The functionality of The Tantra Chair design even surprised me. On paper, you can develop anything in one dimension but bringing it to life and having it work as you planned can be another story. It took me three years of testing the design in focus groups. It took 33 revisions but the end result has exceeded even my own expectations.

Rosemary: How does the chair enhance intimacy?

Al: Every dimension, every angle and every curve was developed to enhance pleasure while supporting and comforting the body. The Tantra Chair changes the angles of the pelvis during lovemaking. This natural change in angles creates new sensations that most people have likely never experienced.
