Real Bachelorette Party: A Casino-Themed Girls Night Out In Little Black Dresses
You guys already saw how I planned an all-out girly bridal shower for my younger sister Dana. When it came to the bachelorette party, I went in a totally different direction…
We decided to surprise Dana with a fancy dinner followed by an evening of poker and slot machines at a nearby casino. Before dinner, we all gathered at one of the bridesmaids houses, which we decorated in casino-theme colored balloons and decorations. The invite (custom designed via Etsy seller Trendy Treasure) told guests to wear their “sexiest little black dress,” while the bride-to-be opted for black and white. (Sorry I don’t have a group shot of all the ladies. It was nearly impossible to get everyone to pose for a picture!)
True to bachelorette tradition, we gave Dana a cheesy veil to wear, plus a hot pink sash and a tiara.
There was no penis paraphernalia allowed, but we did give Dana a really silly gift: The World’s Largest Gummy Bear.
Dinner was at a swank, dark restaurant with a yummy wine list. Like my dress (at right?) It’s from Victoria’s Secret and was inspired by a shopping post on Slaves to Fashion about black lace dresses. The youngest guest was my daughter, Piera (she’s one!) Don’t worry: Baby went home with Grandma after the meal!
When we finally got to the casino, we surprised Dana with a hotel room for us to stay overnight. Since I don’t gamble, I spent most of the night drinking free coffee and chatting up the group while they played slots.
It was a really fun night and I’m so happy I could share the details here. I’ll have a full report from the actual wedding—a colorful beach wedding in the Bahamas—soon. Married gals: Tell us about your bachelorette party—what did you do and what did you wear? (Mine was a racy pole dancing class and I stepped out in a stretchy red leopard print halter dress from Urban Outfitters). Brides-to-be: What are you hoping for on your last shebang?
