3 Hot Lip Colors For Redheads To Try

While finding makeup colors that match your skin tone is essential, thinking about hair color is super important too! The perfect lipstick works with your skin tone, hair and eye color all at once, giving you that ever-important, indescribable beauty glow’. We got a cute little Q on our Tumblr recently, from a gal who wanted help finding a lipstick to enhance her red hair. Here are three lipstick colors I love to see on redheads, regardless of skin tone, modeled by none other than Julianne Moore, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone…

Natural Nude: Julianne Moore, queen of the nude lip, knows what she’s doing here. Nude lips are an opportunity for a redhead to play up the intensity of her hair color – and maybe sneak a smoky eye in there too. Someone with Julianne’s copper-y red hair color could take the nude lip in a more brown direction too.

Sheer Pink: While it might get lost on brunettes or blondes, redheads can do sheer, shiny pink lip colors in such a pretty way. Jessica Chastain looks amazing here, right? Making sure the lip color and the blush coordinate is important; else you’ll have too many different shades competing with each other. For more inspiration, check out Beth’s posts on Nicole Kidman and Christina Hendricks, who also rocked this look.

Bright Red: I’m not even going to get into that whole redheads can’t wear red lipstick’ thing because I think this photo of Emma Stone squashes that theory without question. Here’s my biggest rule for wearing red lipstick as a redhead: Don’t match the reds because it’ll wash you out, go for something brighter than your hair color instead, like Emma here.
