… $40! Not including tip. That was pretty much the going rate in my Manhattan neighborhood, unless you went on a day when the nail salon was having some special promo (like you have to come in between Monday and Wednesday). Here in my new ‘hood, I can get a mani-pedi any day of the week for $22! Not only that, my first experience at my closest corner nail salon was awesome–I got a much-needed shoulder massage and a week (!!!) later, there is not one chip in my fingernail polish. And it’s dark (Glamour’s Woman of the Year polish, to be exact). It’s like they have magic polishing powers there! I’m going to have to pay attention to their products and tricks next time.
