Your Heart Will Melt Watching Zendaya Give Life Advice to Her Young Fans

Zendaya is a force to be reckoned with. Whether she’s rocking the hell out of our November cover, flying on a trapeze for her upcoming film The Greatest Showman, standing up for athletes who have bent their knees, or just being a goofball on Snapchat, she inspires us in everything she does because of the passion she does it with. So we asked our November cover star to answer questions from some of her young fans about growing up, being vegetarian, black girl magic, and following your dreams.

Zendaya shares that it took focus, dedication, and drive to get to where she is today—and she admits the road wasn’t easy for her as a woman of color. In our cover interview she told us her social platform has allowed her to use her voice in a way she never thought possible. “Here’s the thing—I can genuinely say that I’m not the same person I was a year ago,” she said. “As my social platforms grew, I realized that my voice was so much more important than I had originally thought. I think if every young person understood the power of their voice, things would be a lot different. And it’s becoming more popular to be outspoken. If people know your name, they should know it for a reason.” We hear that.

In regard to her success onscreen, she hopes to continue to be able to use her platform to shine some light on the issues our society is facing. As she says in response to one of the young fans, “It’s so important for young people to be able to see themselves in a character.”
