How to Get a Low Side Ponytail Like Rose Byrne and Kirsten Dunst

We predict that 2012 will be the year of the ponytail and that you’ll be wearing yours day in, day out. Try this spunky side version when you want that classic look with a twist. Philip Pelusi, CEO and Founder of Tela Beauty Organics by Philip Pelusi in New York City, tells you how to master the style.

All hair types except for very curly hair, just above-shoulder length to below the shoulder blades. You’ll need about twenty to minutes to recreate the look and the recommended products are:

· Shine Serum

· Blow Dryer

· VELCRO Rollers

· Bobby Pins

· Hair Elastic

· Dri Shampoo, Tela Beauty Organics by Philip Pelusi

· Boar Bristle Brush, Tela Beauty Organics by Philip Pelusi

To create this look:

1. This type of hairstyle is actually easier to create when hair is not freshly shampooed. Start with second-day hair or hair that has been shampooed earlier in the day and blow dry smooth.

2. Mist dry hair all over with a volumizing spray and gently brush hair to help the style last longer.

3. Set hair in large VELCRO rollers and allow to air dry for a few minutes or blast rollers with a blow dryer to save time and make curls tighter.

4. Unroll hair from rollers and brush hair smooth with a flat boar bristle brush.

5. Gently lift the hair at the crown of the head and lightly tease the hair with a boar bristle brush. Spray the teased section of hair with a volumizing spray. Gently smooth teased section of hair, keeping the lift in this layer of hair, but ensuring a clean look overall.

6. Pull hair back into a low ponytail, pulling the sides taut, but allowing the crown to stay full. Wrap ponytail in ponytail holder, but set a small section of hair, about �� inch wide, aside.

7. After ponytail is securely set, wrap this �� inch wide section of hair around and over the ponytail holder to conceal it and secure tail with a bobby pin.

8. For more hold, mist entire updo with hairspray and for additional shine spray with a shine serum.

Keep the look from veering too casual by pairing with a strong lip or statement jewelry.
